Art has always been a way for me to pause and connect with the landscapes around me. From my Gisborne studio, I create original artworks in acrylics and oil pastels inspired by the colours, light, and natural beauty of Tairāwhiti.
I am fortunate to look out towards Maunga Titirangi from my home, and the ever-changing light across the landscape is a constant source of inspiration. I am particularly drawn to the soft colours of sunrise and sunset, often photographing the pink skies above Gisborne and incorporating those colours and moods into my work.
Whether I'm painting on canvas or working with layers of oil pastel, I love capturing a sense of place and atmosphere, creating artworks that bring warmth, beauty, and connection into the home.
My Story
Born and raised in Gisborne, I feel a strong connection to the landscapes of Tairāwhiti and the wider East Coast.
When I'm not in the studio, you'll often find me exploring New Zealand with my family, whether we're camping beside a river, spending time at the beach, or heading away for a fishing trip. These adventures often provide inspiration for my work, and I regularly photograph the landscapes we visit or pack my oil pastels so I can sketch and capture ideas while surrounded by nature. Many of my artworks begin with these moments outdoors, helping me preserve not only the scene itself, but also the feeling of being there.
Through my artwork, I hope to capture the beauty and atmosphere of the places that inspire me and create pieces that bring a sense of warmth, calm, and connection into the home. Whether it's an original painting, an oil pastel work, or a commissioned piece inspired by a special place, I love creating art that tells a story and can be enjoyed for years to come.
