This is a scene of the Waimata River in Gisborne. I often walk down Riverside Road and lately have been noticing the red flags that have been strung across the river when debris is being removed. For me they look festive, like bunting! (which they most definately are not.) I have created this scene in oil pastel on paper and now in paint. The sky in this painting is a very pale blue, so while the sun is shining it is still very cold. But beautiful!
